PayPal transactions are separate from your bank account, but still need to be processed in your accounting. Accounting packages such as Exact Online and Twinfield do not accept PayPal exports — they expect MT940 or CAMT.053. StatementBridge bridges this gap.
How does it work?
- Export from PayPal — Download your transaction overview as CSV via PayPal (Activity > Download)
- Upload in StatementBridge — Drag the CSV file to the upload area
- Review — Check the recognised transactions. A bank account linked to PayPal is different from your PayPal balance. Use a separate PayPal ledger and the account identifier supported by your accounting package, for example a fictitious account number generated in StatementBridge. Never use the IBAN of a real bank account. If the package requires a real IBAN, use its PayPal connection or another supported import format. Use the net movement (Net) to reconcile opening and closing balances; for a PayPal export StatementBridge selects the Net column by default. Gross is appropriate only when every fee is included as a separate movement. Never count both Gross and Net as transactions. Keep Fee for checking costs.

How do I export my PayPal transactions?
Log in to PayPal, go to Activity > All Transactions, click 'Download' and choose CSV as format. Then upload this file in StatementBridge.
Can I import PayPal transactions into Exact Online?
Yes. Convert your PayPal CSV to MT940 with StatementBridge. The resulting MT940 file is intended for import into Exact Online; acceptance depends on the package, its version and the account set-up.
What if my PayPal export contains several currencies?
A statement has one currency. StatementBridge keeps the statement currency and does not convert amounts; a file with several currencies is refused. If your export contains several currencies, split them first and convert each currency separately, with its own account and the correct currency code.
