Import AMEX, PayPal, Stripe and Mollie into e-Boekhouden

Convert and import transactions from payment providers into e-Boekhouden.nl via MT940 or CSV.

Importing payment providers into e-Boekhouden

e-Boekhouden.nl is a popular accounting package for freelancers and small business owners. In addition to regular bank statements, you likely also want to process transactions from payment providers such as AMEX, PayPal, Stripe and Mollie in your accounting records. e-Boekhouden accepts MT940 and CSV for bank statement import. In this article we explain per payment provider how to import your transactions.

You can find the import via Boekhouden > Bank > Importeren. Note: the CSV import requires a specific column order. MT940 is therefore the recommended format due to its reliability.

Importing American Express (AMEX) into e-Boekhouden

American Express offers transaction statements as CSV or Excel. e-Boekhouden cannot read these directly. The solution:

  1. Download your AMEX transaction statement via americanexpress.com as CSV.
  2. Upload the file in StatementBridge.
  3. Map the columns: Date → Date, Amount → Amount, Description → Description.
  4. Enter the account number (use e.g. NL00AMEX0000000000 as a fictitious IBAN).
  5. Export as MT940.
  6. In e-Boekhouden, go to Boekhouden > Bank > Importeren and upload the MT940 file.

Tip: AMEX amounts are often shown as positive for expenses. Check in the preview whether debit and credit are set correctly.

Importing ICS (Visa/Mastercard) into e-Boekhouden

ICS provides credit card statements for Visa and Mastercard as PDF or CSV. For import into e-Boekhouden:

  1. Download your ICS transaction statement as CSV via icscards.nl.
  2. Upload the CSV file in StatementBridge.
  3. Map the columns for date, amount and description.
  4. Enter an IBAN for your credit card account.
  5. Export as MT940 and import into e-Boekhouden.

Note: ICS files sometimes contain both the transaction date and the processing date. Use the transaction date for accurate bookkeeping.

Importing PayPal into e-Boekhouden

PayPal provides transaction statements as CSV with columns such as Gross, Fee and Net. e-Boekhouden cannot process this directly.

  1. Download your PayPal transactions via Activity > Download Reports as CSV.
  2. Upload the file in StatementBridge.
  3. Map the columns: Date → Date, Gross → Amount, Name → Counterparty name, Subject → Description.
  4. Enter your PayPal IBAN or use a fictitious number such as NL00PAYP0000000000.
  5. Export as MT940.
  6. Import the MT940 file into e-Boekhouden via Boekhouden > Bank > Importeren.

Tip: use Gross (gross amount) as the amount column and book the PayPal fees (Fee) separately via a journal entry.

Importing Stripe into e-Boekhouden

Stripe is popular with webshops and SaaS businesses. Stripe offers payout reports and transaction overviews as CSV.

  1. Go to the Stripe Dashboard and navigate to Payments > All transactions.
  2. Click Export and download as CSV.
  3. Upload the CSV file in StatementBridge.
  4. Map the columns: Created (UTC) → Date, Amount → Amount, Description → Description, Customer Email → Counterparty name.
  5. Enter an IBAN for your Stripe account (e.g. NL00STRP0000000000).
  6. Export as MT940 and import into e-Boekhouden.

Note: Stripe amounts are in cents (e.g. 1000 = €10.00). Check in the preview whether the amounts have been converted correctly.

Importing Mollie into e-Boekhouden

Mollie is a widely used payment provider for Dutch webshops. Mollie offers payout reports as CSV via the dashboard.

  1. Log in to the Mollie Dashboard and go to Finances > Exports.
  2. Select the desired period and download the report as CSV.
  3. Upload the CSV file in StatementBridge.
  4. Map the columns: date, amount, description and optionally the Mollie reference.
  5. Enter the IBAN of your Mollie account.
  6. Export as MT940.
  7. Import the file into e-Boekhouden via Boekhouden > Bank > Importeren.

Tip: Mollie sometimes groups multiple payments into a single payout. Use the detailed transaction report for a complete overview per payment.
