Download MT940/CAMT.053 from Triodos Bank

Triodos Bank is widely used by entrepreneurs, foundations and associations that want to bank sustainably. For your accounting you need a file that your accounting package accepts — usually MT940 or CAMT.053. In this guide you will learn how to export both formats from Triodos Internet Banking and what to watch out for.

Which formats does Triodos offer?

Triodos provides several export formats through Internet Banking. Availability depends on the account type:

• MT940 — available for business accounts, in a structured and an unstructured variant.
• CAMT.053 — the ISO 20022 format with the most transaction details.
• PDF — for archiving and review, not for automatic import.
• CSV — for personal accounts often the only machine-readable format.

Note: the Triodos MT940 dialect

Triodos uses its own MT940 variant. When importing in your accounting package, explicitly select Triodos Bank as the bank — if you do not, fields may be read incorrectly (for example the counter account or description). Download a bank statement via Triodos Internet Banking

The download function is in the web environment, not in the mobile app. The on-screen wording may vary slightly per account type.

1. Log in to Triodos Internet Banking via the website.
2. In the main menu, open Overviews and choose Download.
3. Select the account whose transactions you want to export.
4. Choose the desired period (month, quarter or a custom range).
5. Select the file format: CAMT.053 or MT940 (for MT940, choose the variant your package requires).
6. Click Retrieve or Download and save the file in a fixed location (for example \Bank statements\Triodos\2026\).

Tip: Triodos usually delivers MT940 transactions one business day behind. Set the end date to yesterday to get the most complete export.

Points to note for Triodos statements

• Choose the right bank when importing. Always select Triodos in your package because of its own MT940 dialect.
• One business day delay. Request a period up to and including yesterday for a complete export.
• Opening and closing balance. Check that the opening and closing balances match your accounting to avoid a skipped or duplicate period.
